Taking the Olympic water-free flushable toilet as an example, the toilet is open for about 12 hours a day. According to the frequency of toilet use, one person uses the toilet about every 5 minutes, and the total number of people using the toilet in a day is about 144. Flushing the toilet with ordinary water consumes 6 liters of water per person for defecation and 3 liters for urination. According to the assumption that 90% of people use the toilet to urinate and 10% defecate, flushing a single toilet with water consumes approximately 475.2 liters of water per toilet per day; the average water used for hand washing is 0.3 liters per person. Each flushing single-unit toilet consumes about 43.2 liters of water. The total water consumption per day for flushing single-unit toilets is 518.4 liters. The 119 toilets consume about 62 tons of water per day. Beijing Landwasher water-free flushable toilet does not require water and can save 62 tons of water every day. The entire Olympic and Paralympic Games lasted 29 days, saving approximately 1,798 tons of water.

After the Olympics, some waterless flushable toilets were still used in the Olympic venues, and some of them were also used during the 2015 military parade marking the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the Anti-Fascist War.
