This toilet is a water-free and flushable sanitary toilet that served in the right gate of the Forbidden City from 2003 to 2019. There is neither running water nor sewer in this place. The two water-free flushable toilets on the left and right are provided by Beijing Landwasher Company. The company created them after only 4 years of establishment, and they lasted 16 years. The advantage of a vacuum toilet is that it is flushed with water and the front end of the toilet will be more hygienic. The advantage of water-free flushable sanitary toilets is that flushing with deodorized urine does not require water consumption, and the stool can be deodorized and crushed into slurry. The emissions are only one-third of that of a vacuum toilet, and there is no need for a huge water tank. Under the premise of the same cleaning cycle, the volume of the waste container with water-free flushable technology is only about one-fifth of the total volume of the water tank and manure tank container with vacuum drainage technology.

Since the waterless flushable sanitary toilet technology has realized the unitization of toilet equipment, that is, each toilet seat has an independent set of toilet equipment, the failure of one piece of equipment will not cause the entire toilet to stop functioning.

Since this type of toilet has no requirements for running water, no restrictions on the number of people, no requirements on temperature and humidity, and is not affected by hypoxia at high altitudes, it consumes very little energy, and its operating costs are low to those of water flushing toilets, which has become the perfect solution for extreme conditions.
